The Lit Yoshi has revealed his latest Project Life of an Ape from behind bars.
The mixtape was released the following the Wednesday (November 9, 2009) through Head Youngin Records and was recorded in the summer of 2012 while Yoshi was under house arrest.
The Baton Rouge rapper enlisted a couple of special guests to the 21-track album, which includes Pooh Shiesty, BIG30 and Fredo Bang in addition to posthumous appearances from former Lil Loaded and Seven7Hardaway.
“I need them to know as a man I stand tall and I’m going to make it,” Yoshi spoke to his boss in an interview in prison. “Also ensure that you keep me on your prayer list. There are more court dates in the near future. I’m going back to court to get things back on track. It has opened the eyes of my mind to realize what’s real and what’s fake in my life. All we got is us and God.”
Yoshi – born Meyoshi Edwards admitted guilt to two shootings involving gangs in January of this year. He received a sentence of 15 years of prison in his plea bargain.
The TBG (Top Boy Gorilla) rhymer was arrested for an aggravated assault using an firearm in connection with the shooting in 2019. He was found guilty of first-degree attempted murder and assault during the drive-by shooting that occurred in connection with an incident in July 2020.
“I would like people to be aware of my identity. People should be aware what I’m about,” the 23-year-old added. “I would like people to be aware that whenever they hear me, that they’re listening to real rubbish. I would like them to know that I am real. I’m not an imitation.”
TBG associate Seven7Hardaway The TBG affiliate Seven7Hardaway was murdered and shot on September. As per the WBRZ, Hardaway -the real name of Stanley Wright — was the target of an attack in the Baton Rouge apartment complex. There have been no arrests in this case.
