The Pusha T is celebrating his recent Grammy nomination his only method he knows to do it: by honoring the people who preceded him.

The Virginia Beach native was among those honored in the Recording Academy on Tuesday (November 15) when his It’s Nearly Dry album has been nominated as the Best Rap Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

The King Push was on Instagram immediately after announcement of nominees to give a toast to his Grammys nodwhile also paying tribute to some of his peers and predecessors who have also been nominated (and in some cases , won) Awards in past years, but without needing to sell out.

“To be Grammy nominated hits a little different when you are unapologetically you,” the caption reads alongside pictures featuring Diddy, JAY-Z, Ol Dirty Bastard Clipse, Three 6 Mafia, Fat Joe, Big Pun and The-Dream shining in numerous awards shows throughout the years.

“We do not need anyone’s help. We talk and walk exactly the same no matter what space or company we’re walking through… The people mentioned in this article happen to be Grammy winners, but some aren’t. One thing we all share is that we’re the most authentic version of ourselves, and we created you to love it.”

He added: “Thank you @recordingacademy voters for this nomination… #ITSALMOSTDRY RAP ALBUM OF THE YEAR… #UNAPOLOGETICALLYME.”

Even though Pusha T was eager to be in the spotlight however the G.O.O.D. Music President did receive many acclaim in recognition of his Grammy nomination including Lloyd Banks, The Game, Juicy J, Alicia Keys and CyHi The Prynce felicitating on him in the comments of his blog post.

The album will be competing for The Best Rap Album category with Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Future’s I Never Liked You, Jack Harlow’s Come Home the Kids Miss You and DJ Khaled’s God Did.

Pusha T Recalls JAY-Z’s Reaction To Hearing ‘Neck & Wrist’

Pusha T is not new to the Grammys having been nominated four times, both as solo artist as well as part of the Clipse. This year, the Virginia pair’s “Like I Love You” collaboration with Justin Timberlake was nominated for the category of Best Rap/Sung Collaboration back in 2003. Likewise, the G.O.O.D. Music Posse’s version of “Mercy” — starring Kanye West, Pusha T, Big Sean and 2 Chainz — earned nominations for the Best Rap song and the Best Rap Performance in 2013.

The album was released in the year 2018. album Daytona was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, but lost out to Cardi B’s”Invasion of Privacy. Many fans believed that he had did not mean to diss Cardi on her It’s almost dry track “Dreamin of the Past” ( “Award shows the only way you bitches could rob me”) however, as he revealed when he spoke to TIDAL earlier in the year and explained in an interview with TIDAL earlier this year, the Bronx artist was a worthy winner.

“2018 was super strong to me, because I felt like the Grammys even got the rap nominations — and the rap winner — right,” the singer declared. “Come on, man. Cardi deserves this. If you glance at the list that you were in, you had Cardi B and Travis Scott, you had Mac Miller, you had Nipsey Victory Lap and you also had Daytona. Everyone could have won! It’s not like I could have argued!

“Cardi actually did win, and I’d never disagree against that. I was actually going to the gym and listening to her joint on my headphones and thought”Oh, yeah she killed this joint. It was all about what the judges were drawn to. It was fair. The lineup was fair.”
